Bridget Riley awarded with Kaiserring

Bridget Riley awarded the Goslar Kaiserring

London artist Bridget Riley was awarded the Kaiserring by the German city of Goslar on October 3, 2009. The Kaiserring is one of Europe’s most prestigious art awards. Previous winners include Henry Moore, Joseph Beuys, Georg Baselitz, Gerhard Richter, Nam June Paik, and Cindy Sherman.
Aurel Scheibler has represented and exhibited Bridget Riley since the early nineties. In 1998 and 2004 he presented her works in two major solo shows in Cologne. He exhibited her work most recently in Berlin in 2007 in collaboration with Galerie Max Hetzler.
The prize is accompanied by a retrospective of 15 paintings and 70 works on paper that will be on view at the Mönchehaus Museum, Goslar until January 31, 2010.
